The use of formwork in design and construction dates back to Ancient Rome. Early forms were made by weaving flexible reeds which were adaptable, strong and sustainable. This method transformed ancient architectural design, creating innovative and inspiring buildings.

When formwork is permanent, the frame serves to strengthen and stabilize the structure. When formwork is temporary, it leaves a lasting impression on the material it shaped. These characteristics illustrate the principles on which our design practice is founded.

Our firm thrives on the challenge of designing, adapting, and preserving the unique built environment of the communities we serve. The projects we take on span a wide breadth of size, style and status because in our view, the humble vernacular buildings that sometimes go unnoticed actually serve to stitch communities together.

We are passionately committed to strengthening our cities and neighborhoods by understanding and celebrating their unique character. Our design approach respects context and community identity to engender creativity and resiliency in the buildings we design today.

We enjoy creative problem solving based on a collaborative process that seeks public engagement. Working side by side with our clients bringing form to their ideas is the core of our practice. No matter what the challenge, our work will demonstrate context, quality and permanence.
